This course focuses on developing a proposal for a clinical scholarship project designed to improved health outcomes of a defined population. Students will identify theoretical underpinnings, analyze scientific evidence, and evaluate the literature applicable to the clinical scholarship project. Students must successfully present the clinical scholarship proposal. Students accrue 100 clinical hours related to the clinical scholarship project. Competence Statement: Knows concepts of practice project design well enough to develop and successfully present a DNP Capstone Project proposal.

  1. Address effective strategies for managing the ethical issues inherent in patient care, health care organizations, and health care research.
  2. Develop a practice guideline(s) or project to address an advanced practice problem, considering the clinical context.
  3. Propose strategies and solutions that reflect an analysis of the health care delivery system and its cost-effectiveness.
  4. Use databases to inform alternative policy strategies or solutions to improve health status.
