There are three types of courses that rely on the internet.
Internet Courses: Also called 'completely online,' these courses do not require classroom meetings. All work is completed online. In some Internet courses, registration is limited to students who have been admitted to a completely online program.
Web-supported Courses: These courses have a classroom element. The courses meet regularly (once or twice a week). The instructor uses the course Web site in D2L to put up course material such as the syllabus and possibly establish communication networks through discussion forums.
Web-enhanced Courses: Also called 'hybrid' or 'reduced-seat time' courses, these courses combine online learning with face-to-face classroom meetings. Generally, classes meet every other week with half of the course activity taking place in the classroom and the other half taking place online. In between class meetings, students are involved in online activities such as participating in discussion forums, taking quizzes, and conducting research, etc.
