Elizabeth Shippee Award & Criteria
Who was Elizabeth Shippee?
Elizabeth Shippee was the first Student Services dean at Metropolitan State University. Not only did she help formulate Metropolitan State policy, she was a great advocate for all women-especially the women students fulfilling their pursuit of higher education. Although retired, Elizabeth remains supportive of the university.
The Metropolitan State Women's Commission established the Elizabeth Shippee award in recognition for outstanding services to women.
Nominations
When employee award nominations are submitted to employees, the Elizabeth Shippee Award will be included. This will be a formal category. All nominees in this category be forwarded to Women's Commission and the Women's Commission will determine who is the recipient. This award is presented annually at the university's Employee Recognition Award ceremony in the spring.
Criteria for nomination
Nominations are open to any Metropolitan State University employee who has served as an exceptional advocate for women over time. Considerations are:
- Has the nominee served as a role model?
- Has the nominee improved the climate for women in any or all of the following communities: Metropolitan State University, locally, nationally or globally?
