For employers

For employer partners

Thank you for your interest in Metro State students and alumni. We value all our employer partners and look forward to working with you!

Equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism are central to Metro State’s mission and values. In the Career Center, we try to ensure that all Metro State students are heard, supported, and included in career opportunities on campus. Regardless of a student's combination of identities and experiences, the Career Center staff works to cultivate students’ sense of belonging on campus. When they graduate, we want them to experience that same sense of belonging in the world of work.

We are interested in partnering with organizations that are trying to create similar supportive environments to receive our students so they can thrive in healthy, welcoming workplaces. While we work to equip them to enter the workforce or make a career transition, we ask you to meet them halfway by designing inclusive recruitment practices and retention strategies practices and cultivating positive environments.

Metropolitan State University uses the Handshake system for student recruiting and event registration. Your organization may request a free account by clicking here. If you need assistance, access the Handshake Help Center here.

Frequently asked questions

Does Metro State have job fairs and other events?

Yes we do! Our big job fair, the Diversity Networking and Job Fair, happens every year in late September. And we have smaller events for students to meet employers and expand their professional networks throughout the year. We also collaborate with other Minnesota colleges and universities on some consortium events like the Government and Nonprofit Career Fair and the Minnesota Education Job Fair, learn more here: http://www.mcucsa.org/

You are welcome to host your own virtual events through Handshake. Instructions are available through Handshake’s Employer Resource tools.

Can I post a flyer of our job openings on campus?

We do not have a physical job board on campus, as our students are spread out across several campuses and many do not come to campus, as they take classes remotely. Instead, we invite you to join and share your postings on the Metro State Career Center LinkedIn Group. Students and alumni are invited to join this group for career opportunities and advice. Once your membership is approved, you will be able to post your opportunities.

Can I table on campus?

We do not offer tabling on campus. Many students participate in classes on-line or come to campus only for classes, so foot traffic is light. We encourage you to participate in one of our other events or share opportunities on our Metro State Career Center LinkedIn Group.
