The Environmental Education and Community Action program includes a series of environmental activities developed to provide opportunities for elementary student's education and involvement in local environmental initiatives. Students, family members and community members have the opportunity to be involved with ongoing environmental activities including community garden activities, school ground plantings and community cleanup days. Additional partners include the Community Design Center of Minnesota and the Dayton's Bluff District Council.
University student opportunities are available through individual internships at Community Design Center of Minnesota or approved community-based or service learning coursework. Environmental Action Team meetings take place throughout the year to develop and implement spring activities for National Youth Service Day (April), Earth Day (May) and other school & neighborhood events. Environmental education activities are planned with all grade levels.
