Entrepreneurship Minor

Entrepreneurship is the fastest growing segment in the economy, with small businesses representing 99 percent of all employers and accounting for 63% of the net new jobs created over the last 2 decades (SBA Office of Advocacy, 2014). This is a challenging and rewarding time to build skills and capacity in innovation and entrepreneurship. Exciting career paths are emerging as new business owners or as change agents in existing companies.

The Entrepreneurship minor is designed to build the knowledge, skills, experience, connections, and mindset that students need to be successful, to expand career options and career paths. Students can augment their specialty, build their dreams and gain even more marketplace advantages with the Entrepreneurship Minor, as it adds value to every discipline. The required courses emphasize innovation, creativity and opportunity recognition to support both entrepreneurship (starting a new organization) and intrapreneurship (developing innovative manager skills for working within existing organizations). Elective courses allow students to tailor the minor to their own interests, deepening their knowledge and skills in the areas important to their own entrepreneurial path.

Non-College of Management Major Track: Students not pursuing a business major take the following course first, after which they can take the remaining Entrepreneurship courses:

College of Management Major Track: Students pursuing one of the business majors take the following courses listed below that are already required for their business program in place of ENTR 300 Interdisciplinary Knowledge and Skills for Entrepreneurship and Innovation:
