New students must complete Metropolitan State's New Student Orientation before their first registration. Orientation provides information regarding the General Education and Liberal Studies (html) (pdf) requirements, as well as a Program Information Meeting (PIM) related to your major. Through the New Student Orientation, you will be introduced to other key university resources and policies such as:
- Financial Aid
- Math Center
- Student Handbook
- Student Policies and Conduct
- Student Senate
- TRIO
- Writing Center
- plus much, much more.
COM students have two options for completing the New Student Orientation (NSO) and PIM:
- On-campus, in person two-hour NSO and two-hour PIM that includes personal assistance in logging onto your student account, and registering.
- Online Orientation
- enables you to complete New Student Orientation and the COM PIM online, anytime, at your own pace;
- replaces both the two-hour New Student Orientation and the two-hour COM PIM;
- waives the $10 Orientation fee;
- enables you to declare your major; if you have successfully completed your Foundation courses;
- enables you to review key material and skip sections that do not apply to you;
- connects you with the great resources available at Metropolitan State;
- provides opportunities to check your knowledge throughout the orientation.
Sign up for an on-campus Orientation or online Orientation as soon as possible. In addition, during the on-campus NSO, attend a required College of Management PIM, so you can get off to a great start at Metropolitan State!
