Get off to a great start by completing your New Student Orientation (NSO) and Program Information Meeting (PIM) as soon as possible after admission to Metropolitan State University.
The NSO is the University's general orientation for all students. Each college has their own PIM, which is the orientation for the specific college.
College of Management PIMs are required for newly admitted students, re-admitted students, and students from other colleges at Metropolitan State University switching to a COM major.
The PIM provides information about COM majors, transfer courses, degree requirements, and registration planning.
Important! You will not be admitted to a major until you complete a COM PIM and submit a major declaration form to the College of Management.
For the PIM, you will need:
- your DARS or General Education/Liberal Studies (GELS) Worksheet
- copy of evaluated transcripts received back from Admissions
- latest Class Schedule
College of Management students may complete the PIM one of two ways:
- On-campus, in person, or
- Online
On-Campus, in person:
The two-hour COM PIM follows the two-hour general university NSO presentation. To attend the NSO, you must register in advance at 651-793-1234. You do not need to register in advance for the PIM, but you will need to sign in on-site. The on-campus PIM includes hands-on practice using the COM major checklist and course sequence, as well as time for brief, individual consultation with a COM advisor. Individual help with logging into your student portal and with registering is also available.
The COM PIM starts approximately two hours after the start of each NSO. For a schedule of upcoming NSOs and PIMs follow this link to New Student Orientation.
Online Orientation:
Online Orientation includes the College of Management PIM that:
- enables you to complete New Student Orientation and the COM PIM online, anytime, at your own pace;
- replaces both the two hour New Student Orientation and the two hour COM PIM;
- waives the $10 Orientation fee;
- enables you to declare your major, if you have successfully completed your Foundation courses;
- enables you to review key material and skip sections that do not apply to you;
- connects you with the great resources available at Metropolitan State;
- provides opportunities to check your knowledge throughout the orientation.
Students who take Online Orientation satisfy the University's orientation requirement by passing an online comprehensive quiz with a score of 80% or higher.
