The College of Professional Studies was established in 1990. It currently houses the Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, and Education departments, and the School of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. It also houses the university-wide Prison Education program. In addition, the college also sponsors continuing professional education programs for professionals in a variety of mental health, community, and social services areas.
The college's mission is to serve as the University vanguard in the areas of professional development and community involvement, and contribute the liberal arts foundations of these areas. The College is known for its quality and innovation in teaching, advising, research, and service. Its foci include cultural diversity, student-centered learning, application of knowledge through experiential learning, faculty and staff development and community development.
The College's theme is "Quality and Innovation through Partnership". The Dean of the College is Carmen Coballes-Vega.
