The cost of attending graduate school is frequently a concern for prospective students. The good news is that many employers support graduate study through tuition reimbursement. Check with your organization’s human resource department to see if that is an option for you.

Other options include financial aid or graduate assistantships.

Graduate assistantship opportunities at Metropolitan State range from research or teaching assistantships to working in the University’s Center for Online Learning or IT department.

To be eligible for an assistantship, you must be admitted to one of Metropolitan State University's graduate programs and remain in good academic standing. Full-time assistantships (maximum of 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring Semesters) require enrollment in a minimum of eight graduate credits per semester. Some graduate assistants may extend to full-time (40 hours per week) during Summer Semester. Enrollment in a minimum of two graduate credits during the summer term.

A half-time graduate student must be enrolled in at least four graduate credits per semester and two graduate credits during the summer in order to be considered for an assistantship.

The maximum credit load for all graduate assistants is 12 credits per semester during the academic year.

Graduate assistants are eligible for partial tuition remission as well as pay for hours worked.
