Who Must Take This Assessment?
Applicants to the Master of Science in Criminal Justice program who have a cumulative GPA of 2.99 or less on the transcript from their bachelor degree-granting institution are required to take this assessment for inclusion in their application file.
Applicants who have already taken the GRE and have minimum scores of 450V, 550Q, and 4W, can send an official copy of the GRE score in lieu of this assessment.
About The Assessment
Questions are divided into four areas from which the applicant selects the area that best fits their professional affiliation. Applicants must respond to all three questions in the selected area. For each question the applicant must write an approximately 1½ to 2 page essay in response. This assessment requires the use of a computer. The time limit is two hours. Applicants are evaluated on the clarity of their thoughts and ability to write effectively.
Scheduling Your Assessment
The assessment should be scheduled as soon as possible following submission of application materials. The assessment must be completed before the priority application deadline to be given full consideration in the selection process.
You are required to fill out and bring with you, an Assessment Request Form.

After The Assessment Exam
For those that must take the assessment, your completed assessment will be forwarded to the Graduate Studies Office for inclusion in your application file. The assessment will be graded by a member of the admissions committee and then evaluated in conjunction with all other application materials in your file.
