The MSN program offers the following program concentrations to enrich your nursing education.
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program prepares students as generalists in primary care across the life span. The curriculum consists of didactic courses, clinical rotations and a clinical project. FNP clinical experiences include women’s health, adult health, and pediatric and family health. Applications will be accepted in January 2010 for the final cohort of this program which begins in Fall, 2010. Students must complete this program by Spring, 2014.
The program can be completed as a three or four year FNP track. Core courses, taken first, are offered via multiple course delivery formats including face-to-face, web-enhanced, and online delivery depending on the semester. The didactic content of the clinical courses are delivered predominantly online with selected on-campus synthesis seminars with clinical practica hours aligned within a practice setting. The clinical courses must be taken in sequence. Students must anticipate a significantly heavier course and study load during all three clinical semesters. The clinical practica requires the equivalent of two eight hours days per week of clinical experience in each of three semesters (600 total hours).
Adult Nurse Practitioner/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program (ANP/GNP)
The Adult Nurse Practitioner/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (ANP/GNP) Program prepares students as generalists in the primary care of adults with specialty training in the care of elders. The curriculum consists of didactic courses, clinical rotations and a clinical project. Applications will be accepted in January 2010 for the final cohort of this program which begins in Fall, 2010. Students must complete this program by Spring, 2014.

Leadership and Management
The MSN:Leadership and Management in nursing program prepares graduates for advanced leadership and management roles. The curriculum includes courses to advance understanding of business and finance practices, organizational behavior, and leadership in health care systems. A specialty emphasis in public health leadership is also available. Applicants to the public health leadership emphasis complete the one-year, 15-credit certificate in public health prior to applying to the LMN program.
The program can be completed on a part- or full-time basis over two year plus one summer or three years plus two summers. Nursing courses are offered via multiple course delivery formats including face-to-face, web-enhanced, and online delivery depending on the semester.
Nurse Educator
The MSN: Nurse Educator program prepares graduates as clinical nurse educators or nursing faculty to serve patients’ educational needs, assist nurses advance their professional development and join community colleges and other educational settings as faculty. The curriculum includes courses to advance understanding of nursing and education theory, principles and practices. The curriculum is based upon the National League for Nursing (NLN) core competencies of Nurse Educators which prepared graduates for the NLN Certified Nurse Educator Examination.
The program can be completed on a part- or full-time basis over two years plus one summer or three years plus two summers. Nursing courses are offered via multiple course delivery formats including face-to-face, web-enhanced, and online delivery depending on the semester.
