Suggested Pathway for New Students

1.  Apply for admission to the university

Individuals interested in becoming a student at Metropolitan State
University should start by contacting the Admissions Office to speak to
     an admissions counselor.

     Steps to apply:

      1.  Complete an application
      2.  Submit official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities
           previously attended
      3.  Include application fee, if applicable.

For more information on Admissions, please visit their website.

 2.  Activate your NetDirect account by going to the Metropolitan State
home page, clicking on the link to the NetDirect Portal in the middle
of the page and selecting Activate Your Account at the bottom left.
You will need your Tech/Student ID # and  pin# to activate your
     account.

3.  New Student Orientation (NSO)

Once admitted, new students must complete NSO before they can
register.  NSO provides students with important University and
program information.  Visit the New Student Orientation website for
more information. All new students must contact the Orientation
      office to register for orientation.

4.  Placement Assessment Testing

Once admitted, new students are required to complete Placement
Assessment Tests.  Testing should be completed prior to completing
New Student Orientation.  Students who have not completed their
tests will not be eligible to register for courses.

Your admission letter and Degree Audit Report (DARS) will indicate
whether you need to complete reading, writing or math assessment
testing.  Each test will take approximately one hour to complete.
Assessment results will determine eligibility to jump immediately into
college level courses or indicate deficiencies that may require
remedial coursework.  If you are not satisfied with your placement
       results, you may retest once.

For more information please visit the Placement Assessment website.

5.  Contact your academic advisor.

If you met with an advisor at the on-campus orientation, you do not
need to meet with your advisor unless you have specific questions.

6.  Finalize tuition payment and financial aid.

7.  Attend a Premajor Advising Workshop (PAW)

Admission to the University does not constitute admission to a
program or major.  Attendance at a PAW is one of several
requirements in order to declare your major  in Law Enforcement or
Criminal Justice.  To RSVP for a PAW, please view the PAW schedule
