“Most police officers have schedules that make it difficult to get to campus for classes. The online program at Metropolitan State University enables you to complete a degree while fulfilling your commitment to your department.”

-- Emily Lehner, Police Officer, City of Minneapolis

Online Law Enforcement Major Completion Program

At Metropolitan State University we encourage you to take advantage of our unique prior learning program.

How does it work?

After you are admitted to the major completion program, an advisor from the School of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice will review your continuing education records. Your advisor will help you create a plan that will incorporate your training, organize your experience, and demonstrate your knowledge in the academic arena.

What kinds of continuing education can I use for prior learning?

Below are some examples of law enforcement continuing education that many students have used to fulfill some of their major elective requirements:

  • Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) continuing education
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Academy continuing education
  • Investigation courses
  • DARE continuing education
  • Intoxilyzer continuing education
