The Law Enforcement Licensing Certificate Program is designed to meet the needs of working adults who have completed a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and want to become a licensed peace officer in the State of Minnesota. The certificate program meets all Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) learning objectives.
The Minnesota POST Board coordinates a system of licensing for all peace officers in the State. In order to be licensed by the POST Board, prospective peace officers must pass certain selection criteria and meet specific education requirements. For detailed information about POST Board regulations and requirements, see their website.
The Law Enforcement Licensing Certificate Program
takes three semesters (one academic year) to complete and begins each fall. Most courses are offered in a hybrid format using web-based, online technology with Saturday classes on campus. Classes are held at the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Education Center, Brooklyn Park. For more information download a Program Information Sheet.
