The Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board Coordinates a system of licensing for all peace officers in the state. Any person employed as a peace officer must hold a POST Board license. In order to be licensed by the POST Board, prospective peace officers must pass certain selection criteria and meet specific education requirements. Application materials for the Fall 2010 Law Enforcement Licensing Certificate Program are now available. Because there are a limited number of seats available in this program, early application is advised. Once the program is full, qualified applicants will be placed on a wait list.
Starting with the Fall 2010 Program, students will have the option of taking select courses for either undergraduate or graduate credit. Courses taken for graduate credit will have additional academic requirements. Also beginning with the Fall 2010 semester, courses will be held at the newly constructed Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Center on the Hennepin Technical College campus in Brooklyn Park.
Note: Prospective students should not apply to Metropolitan State University or register for classes until after they have been admitted to the Certificate Program.
