This major is designed primarily for students transferring from a MnSCU institution with a child development diploma or A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. degree programs who are seeking baccalaureate degrees in early childhood studies. Many students will be seeking career enhancements in the child development field. Courses are also open to nonmajors.
Careers
The Early Childhood Studies program provides students with the most flexible degree to work in a variety of early childhood settings as teachers, directors, trainers, and administrators. Graduates seek employment in child care agencies, Head Starts, preschool programs, and child care resource and referral agencies. The Early Childhood studies program also meets the needs of home care providers seeking an academic credential and individuals advocating for children in government agencies. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Studies does not lead to a Minnesota teaching license.Early Childhood Resources
