      Individual Therapy Appointment Information

Services are available weekdays and occasional evening hours, on the Saint Paul campus. If you are unable to keep an appointment, please call to cancel with at least 24-hours notice when possible, so that the time can be used for another student. Ongoing counseling services are limited during the summer months, however intake and referral meetings are available year-round.

The amount of time spent in counseling varies from person to person and according to the nature of problems presented.  Appointments are typically 50 minutes long. Some students may be seen for one session, while others continue for several weeks. Appointments are most often scheduled once a week.

Group Therapy, Discussion Groups, and Workshops

Several groups and educational workshops are also offered regularly.  Stay tuned for more information on offerings for Fall 2009, likely to include: Relationships Therapy Group, Assertiveness Workshop, Body Image Discussion Group, and Procrastination Workshop.

Students interested in a therapy or discussion group will meet briefly with the facilitators prior to the start of the group.  If you'd like to indicate your interest in one of the offerings, above, give us a call.  More information to come!

      Privacy and Confidentiality

Information shared with counselors is confidential and used explicitly to assess the problem and to determine appropriate goals and services.  We understand that many people seek out counseling because they want a private space in which to talk about things that are troubling them.

Information obtained in counseling cannot be released without the written consent of the student, except in instances mandated by Minnesota law, which requires breaking confidentiality in specific, immediate and life-threatening situations.  Your counselor will discuss with you in the first meeting our policies and procedures, and you are welcome to ask any questions that you might have.
