If your approved financial aid award for the semester is more than the cost of your tuition and fees, you may be eligible for bookstore credit. Bookstore credit allows you to purchase textbooks and necessary supplies by charging these purchases to your student account, which are then paid when your financial aid is disbursed. (A student account is established for you by the University Financial Management Office.)
"When Are Bookstore Credits Available?"
Bookstore Credits are available each semester during the dates listed below. You will receive an email sent to your student email account to notify you when you are eligible that includes amount of credit available to you. Students may purchase books and necessary supplies during the hours the bookstore is open during the following days:
Summer Semester 2010:
Monday, April 19, 2010 through Friday, May 14, 2010Fall Semester 2010:
Monday, August 2, 2010 through Friday, August 27, 2010Spring Semester 2011:

"Who Is Eligible for Bookstore Credit?"
Financial aid recipients who are registered, have funds that are fully accepted and scheduled for disbursement shortly after the end of the add/drop period, do not have a unpaid balance hold on their student account, and who are meeting the academic progress standards at the end of the prior term are eligible. The accepted funds for the registered credit level as shown on your most recent offer of financial assistance must be more than the tuition and fee charges for those credits.
"How Do I Obtain the Bookstore Credit?"
- You must complete and return the "Bookstore Credit and Other Miscellaneous Charges Authorization" form to the Office of Student Financial Aid. You need to do this only once while enrolled at Metropolitan State.
- After selecting your books and supplies, present your student identification card to the cashier in the bookstore and inform the cashier that you have a bookstore credit from Student Financial Aid. The cashier will record your purchases on the register.
- Within a few days your purchases will be charged to your student account. Your disbursement of financial aid will pay for tuition, fees and bookstore charges in that order. Any remaining balance owing must be paid by you to the University's Financial Management Office.
"What Can I Purchase with Bookstore Credit?"
You can purchase textbooks and necessary supplies. Supplies include, but are not limited to, study guides, supplemental texts, workbooks, notebooks, notepaper or pads, pens, pencils, art/drawing supplies and calculators. Items that cannot be purchased with bookstore credit include clothing, mugs, food, mass market books (unless designated as a course text) and other items not necessary for course work.
