Most newly admitted degree seeking undergraduate students may select to complete orientation online, though freshmen, students admitted on probation, and Power of You students are required to attend on-campus orientation.

To get registered for online orientation:

 

1) First activate your NetDirect Account to complete the online orientation. Activating your NetDirect Account also creates your University email account. Complete any required Diagnostic Assessments.

 

2) Then send an email to Records.Registration@metrostate.edu from your newly created University email requesting to be registered for online orientation, be sure to include your Student/Tech ID number in the email. You will receive an email confirmation of online orientation registration within 1-2 business days.

 

3) After receiving email confirmation that you are registered to start online orientation log in to your NetDirect account and click the NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION icon.

  1. The comprehensive quiz can be completed 24 hours after you have been registered and only if you have activated your NetDirect account. Online orientation does not need to be completed in one session, you can start and stop and revisit it.
  2. Along with completing the online orientation remember you need to complete any required Diagnostic Assessments to be cleared to register for your first semester of courses.

Online Orientation Agenda

The purpose of orientation is to familiarize you with the university's policies and procedures, help you plan your program and enable you to make informed decisions and choices toward attaining your academic goals. Online Orientation will guide you through the following:

  • Program Planning -- Plan your program so you can make the most of your learning opportunities, time and money.
  • Learning Resources -- Learn about the different services such as advising, financial aid, testing center, tutoring and student organizations.
  • Rights and Responsibilities -- Know the policies and procedures to help you avoid the pitfalls that await the uninformed.
  • Success Strategies -- Learn about strategies to be successful in achieving your educational and professional goals.
  • Library -- Learn how to use Metropolitan State University's numerous electronic databases and print resources.
  • Registration -- Understand the registration process so that you select appropriate courses and stay on track to graduation.
