What do I do if I plan to graduate this semester?

Register for WKSP GRAD through Student e-Services and follow the steps as listed on the Graduation Information homepage.

If you miss the deadline but would still like to be considered for graduation, you must complete the Appeal to Graduate after Deadline form.

If you will not graduate until next semester but would like to walk in the upcoming commencement, please complete the Appeal to Walk in Commencement Before Graduating.

What is the time schedule?

  • 6 p.m.  Suggested arrival time
  • 6:20 p.m. Lineup for ceremony begins 
  • 6:45 p.m.  Guests must seated
  • 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.  General length of the ceremony

When should I plan to attend / walk at commencement?

Spring graduates may participate in spring commencement. Summer and fall graduates may participate in fall commencement.

Do I need tickets?

Tickets are required for all guests. Graduates will receive information via email regarding how to receive your guest tickets. Graduates do not need tickets, their seat is reserved for them.

For disability seating, call 651-793-1549, TTY 651-722-7687 or TTY 651-772-7723 four weeks prior to the ceremony.

Who is the commencement speaker?

Commencement ceremony speaker is always an outstanding student award recipient.  The student has not been selected yet.

Where can I park?

There are several parking areas nearby; visit the Roy Wilkins Auditorium at Saint Paul  RiverCenter website for information.

Where do I keep my personal property during the ceremony?

Do not bring any personal property( such as purses or cameras) unless you plan to carry it during the ceremony or have someone attend to it. Metropolitan State and the Roy Wilkins Auditorium at Saint Paul RiverCentre are not responsible for any personal property.

Please remind guests to also guard their personal belongings. A public coat check is available for a fee.
