The Math Center provides free support for learning mathematics and statistics at Metropolitan State University. Students, faculty and staff can come to the Math Center for group work, individual practice and tutoring assistance. Many students come to the center on a regular basis to work on homework and other practice problems.

  • Tutors are available on a first-come, first-served basis during drop-in hours. Study groups are encouraged. The schedule changes each semester; contact us for the current hours.
  • Appointments are available for individual help with specific questions. We prefer that you make appointments at least 24 hours in advance.
  • The Math Center also holds workshops on a variety of topics, including graphing calculators and algebraic simplification techniques.
  • Handouts for the TI-83 or TI-83-Plus graphing calculator and other topics for math and statistics courses are available on-line and in the Math Center.

Expectations of the Math Center

We believe that students have the best chance to develop their mathematical and statistical ability when they are academically supported in the learning process. To illustrate our tutoring philosophy, we have developed a list of guidelines to ensure that we are clear about what tutors and students contribute to the tutoring session.

Contacting the Math Center

Call 651-793-1460 to make an appointment or ask questions. You can also send email to math.center@metrostate.edu and receive a reply within 48 hours. If you have a tutoring question, you should know that we are not set up for answering math, or statistics questions via email. It is best if you come into the Math Center during our scheduled hours.
