The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) is a fragrance-free environment.
Cologne, perfume, scented lotions, and other chemical fragrances can make some people sick, especially those with asthma, chemical sensitivities or allergies, or other respiratory ailments. Please refrain from wearing/using fragrances when you're at any of our Tutoring or Testing Center locations.

The Type of Service We Provide

The Science Center provides support for select biology, chemistry, and physics courses at Metropolitan State University. Students can come to the Science Center for group work, individual practice, and tutoring assistance. As our science tutors have specific Biology, Chemistry, and Physics specialties, please check the schedule below to ensure that a tutor for your subject area is available.
Our science tutors help students:

  • Practice study skills specific to science courses
  • Practice connecting topics and understanding the relations between them
  • Navigate conceptual difficulties
  • Develop technical skills through modeling the process

Our science tutors refrain from:

  • Completing student work
  • Providing primary instruction

The goal of our science tutors is to help students become independent and responsible for their learning. We want students and instructors to have confidence that the work students submit after visiting the Science Center arises from their own efforts and reflects their own understanding of the material.

  • Appointments are available for individual help with specific questions. We prefer that you make appointments at least 24 hours in advance if possible
  • We allow students a maximum of one science tutorial per course per day

We offer assistance for a variety of science courses: BIOL-111, BIOL-112, CHEM-111, CHEM-112, CHEM-231, CHEM-332, CHEM-341, CHEM-351/PHYS-351, PHYS-111, PHYS-112, PHYS-211, and PHYS-212.
