Testing Center

The Testing Center is a program of the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) and provides a secure environment for:

  • Metropolitan State students taking makeup exams for classroom courses,
  • Metropolitan State students taking exams for independent study courses,
  • Metropolitan State students taking waiver exams for the College of Management
  • Metropolitan State graduate school applicants taking assessments for the College of Management
  • MnSCU students taking exams for online courses, and
  • MnSCU students taking placement assessment tests in mathematics, reading, and/or writing.


Instructors: please see Instructor Procedures for directions on submitting exams to the Testing Center. 

Students: please see Student Procedures for directions on scheduling exams in the Testing Center. We also help make arrangements for an Off-site Proctor for students who cannot travel to our campuses to take exams for Metropolitan State courses.

Computers: please schedule placement assessment and other computerized exams only at the Midway or Saint Paul locations. Additional information regarding placement assessment tests may be obtained through the Placement Assessment office.

No placement assessment exams will be scheduled during the last week of classes, April 22 - May 3.

Disability related testing accommodations may be obtained through the Disability Services office.

The CAE Testing Center is closed as follows:
  • December 23 - January 18 for the semester break
  • March 7 - 13 for Spring Break,
  • May 7 - 16 for the semester break.
The CAE Testing Center opens Monday, May 17 for Summer 2010.
