D2L Overview - Basic (2 hours)

This workshop provides an overview of D2L navigation and tools for in-class, hybrid and online courses for instructors who are new to D2L.

Workshop includes:

Creating and editing modules and topics
Surveying D2L features such as news items, drop box, discussion forums, quizzing
and grading. Participants will be able to navigate to these items and describe their
funtion. (Hands-on work with these features is included in D2L Overview - Inter-
mediate)  Direction sheets will be provided.

Teaching Online Colloquia

The colloquia present an opportunity for instructors to hear from other instructors who teach online. The colloquia are offered the second Wednesday of each month. This month’s colloquium features:

Creating instructor presence Leveraging audio; Reviewing good project development Questions and answers

Using 3rd Party Tools to Expand the Range of Online Activities in D2L (2 hours)

This workshop explores free or inexpensive web 2.0 applications that instructors can embed in a D2L topic to engage students in a variety of ways. Instructors will learn how to find Web 2.0 applications that meet their needs and how to embed them in D2L. Although the Web 2.0 applications will vary, some of the current tools of interest include Prezi, VoiceThread and and ZebraZapps.

This hands-on workshop provides introductory information on how to create quizzes in D2L for in-class, hybrid or online courses. Instructors will see sample quizzes and can create their own quiz.

This workshop introduces instructors to creating interactive multimedia learning activities with the LodeStar eLearning authoring tool, licensed to all MnSCU faculty.
