Capital improvement projects and planning is about utilizing university and state funded resources to address current and future facility needs.  Nine projects are currently underway and/or in the planning process for future construction include:

Saint Paul Campus:

  1. Smart Classroom Office Center  (Vetoed by Governor May 2008; pending Legislative funding in 2010)
  2. Predesign for New Health Science Building (for future Legislative funding)
  3. St. John's Hall rooms L11 and L13 will be combined and developed into a 32 seat lab/classroom
  4. Facilities Master Plan update to begin Fall 2008

Midway Site:

  1. Two new science classrooms and two labs will open at Midway in August 2008.

North/West Suburbs:

  1. New Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Center on the Hennepin Technical College (North)  Campus (2008 Legislative approved; construction began summer 2009)

Minneapolis Site:

  1. Minneapolis Campus Science/Allied Health Building and Classroom Expansion (Nearing completion for Fall 2008 Opening)
  2. Work Force Program Remodeling (Design for this 2010 potential project to start 2008)
  3. Facilities Master Plan update to begin Fall 2008
