Use the IM service to find answers to quick questions like "Does the library have the book Nickel and Dimed?" or more in-depth research questions like "Can you help me find articles on gender and the digital divide?"
Don't have an IM account or program? If you do not have an instant messaging program, you can download one by clicking on one of the logos above, or type directly into this box:
Live chat is unavailable right now.
Please email us or call (651) 793-1616 for assistance.
Reference librarians can respond to your question in "real time," although some complex questions may need to be followed up with a phone call or in-person meeting. Reference librarians may be helping other patrons, so please be patient if we are unable to respond immediately. The hours for chat reference are the same as those for in-person and phone reference, and can be found on our location and hours page.
Do you have an account, but you're not at a computer that has the service installed? You can use web versions of AOL (AIM Express), Yahoo (Yahoo Web Messenger), and MSN Messenger (MSN Web Messenger). Google Talk can be accessed through a Gmail account.
