A student ID card is an essential tool for checking out resources from our library, using the Interlibrary Loan service, and checking out books from other MnSCU libraries.  We strongly encourage you to get your photo ID as soon as possible.  It only takes 3-5 minutes and once your card has been issued, your library privileges are automatically enabled for each semester you register.  ID cards are made at the Circulation Desk on the second floor of the library on the St. Paul campus whenever the library is open, and can also be obtained through the mail.

Getting an ID in St. Paul

The student ID card can be obtained at Library Services on the St. Paul Campus during most hours that the library is open, including evenings and weekends. A driver's license or similar photo identification is required. A photograph will be taken at the time of application and your card will be issued immediately.

Getting an ID by Mail

If you are unable to obtain your ID card in person at either campus, you may apply by mail. You must send a color photo of yourself (preferably wallet-sized), along with photocopies of

  • Your Minnesota driver's license or equivalent.
  • Your 8-digit student ID number or the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
