Subject
Searching in MnPALS
You'd think
you could enter any topic as a Subject Heading search in MnPALS.
However, the Subject search uses special terms to organize
books by subject. These are called Library
of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH for short). Subject headings help you find books on a particular concept regardless of which exact words the author used in the title. For example:
If you entered
a Subject search for: acquired immune
deficiency you
would get no books!
But if you searched
using the LCSH term, AIDS (Disease)
you'd see the library has around 50 books under the main subject as well as subheadings. Now experiment with using these terms as a subject search.
