Surface parking lot will be closed as construction work begins next week
The surface lot adjacent to the Saint Paul Campus parking ramp will be closed from Monday, July 17, until mid-September, in order to complete the surface lot expansion project. The closure is necessary to stage equipment and materials needed for Rachel Construction's work on this project. Parking will still be available on all five levels of the parking ramp.
The expansion of the south surface lot will provide additional parking stalls, as required by the City of Saint Paul's parking ordinance, and will allow removal of the temporary retaining wall south of the ramp. The graphic below shows the surface lot parking area that will be closed during construction.
Please note that an early phase of the work will include approximately two days of pile driving, needed to stabilize the earthen bank along Bates Avenue. It is also possible that a short-term lane closure on Bates Avenue will be needed. Metropolitan State University will provide additional notices, as needed, about elements of the construction process that may affect the university's colleagues, guests, or neighbors.
