Reference and Research Assistance Desk: Metropolitan State librarians staff the 1st floor desk where you can get help with your research assignments and problems, information needs, and other questions – no appointment needed.
When a Metropolitan State librarian is not available, the chat service is answered by a librarian outside of Metropolitan State University who can help you 24 hours per day.
Consultation appointments: Individual appointments with a reference librarian may be made at the librarian’s discretion and availability. These may serve best when a particular librarian’s expertise is needed, a question requires a lengthy or in-depth interaction, an interpreter needs to be scheduled, etc. To initiate an appointment, email firstname.lastname@example.org and describe your need.
Information Commons Specialists at the 1st floor desk are able to provide general computer assistance almost any time the library is open. As time permits, they can help you troubleshoot application and software problems you may have related to your studies and assignments. At this time, they cannot assist you with non-Metropolitan-owned hardware and software.
The staff at the 2nd floor Circulation Desk can help you get a student ID card, find items in Metropolitan State’s collections, check out or renew library materials, get copies of library materials from other Minnesota libraries, and access course reserves. Phone: 651-793-1616
