If you are a freshman or a PSEO student having no college credit OR you are a transfer student but your Degree Audit Report (DARS) indicates that you are required to take parts or all assessment placement tests, you need to read the following instructions carefully and get all required information ready before sending an email to sign up for testing.

Before testing, you should visit our website at Preparation and Sample Questions and do a serious review, so that the results will represent your current best possible skill levels.

The web-based Accuplacer tests are not timed, but most people can finish both the math and language tests in about two hours. One hour or so is the norm for most students if they take only one part of the tests.

You may tentatively choose your individual start time between the session's start time and 1.5 hours before the session's close time. You need to allow yourself enough time.

Some graduate applicants need to take certain required assessment tests, too. If you have a Test Permit, you may schedule your test by following the same instructions. If you don't have one yet, you need to contact your program office to obtain one first.

Freshman/Transfer Test Options

  • Math and Reading/Writing for freshmen or PSEO students
  • Math or/and Reading/Writing for transfer students, as indicated on the individual DARS

For efficient staffing, we reserve the right to cancel a testing session three days before the testing date if fewer than five students have signed up. We will notify those affected by the cancellation. Those who need to reschedule have priority for any future session.

Testing Sessions: September 2017 - January 2018

  1. For directions, view Locations at the Metropolitan State University home page.
