• Order official transcripts from each college/university attended (Non-Minnesota State Colleges and Universities only)
  • Order your high school transcript (only if you have less than 24 college level credits)

After admission to the university but before starting first semester:

  • Complete diagnostic assessment tests (if applicable)    
  • Complete orientation, online or on-campus  
  • Connect with your Academic Advisor
  • Register for courses

Receiving VA Educational Benefits:

To apply for VA educational benefits under any one of the following VA Chapters:  CH33 Post 9/11, CH30  MGIB, CH1606 Selected Reserve, or CH1607 REAP Reserve Educational Assistance Program.  Go to the VA website and submit your VA application using VONAPP. (Veterans Online Application)  Remember your user name and password for future reference.

  • VA form 22-1990 (for first time VA applicants or if changing VA chapters)

Submit the following documents to Veterans and Military Students Services:                                                                                       

  • Veterans Enrollment Certificate — Each semester after registering for courses, YOU must let us know that YOU are choosing to receive VA educational benefits.
  • A copy of your VA Certificate of Eligibility (you will receive this 1-2 months after applying)
  • A copy of your DD214 (Member page 4)

Other Potential Financial Resources:

  • The Minnesota GI Bill  — This is for ALL veterans with an Honorable Discharge, a current Minnesota resident, under age 62, or non-veterans with 5+ years NG/Reserve service.
  • Federal Tuition Assistance
  • State Tuition Reimbursement (National Guard)

Our center is a nice place to study, relax, use a computer, have something to eat or drink, learn about benefits and support services available on and off campus, and connect with other veterans.                                                                                                    

Hours:  Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Metropolitan State Veterans Network (MSVN) www.facebook.com  is our military student organization on campus. All veterans, current service members and military family members are welcome and encouraged to participate. The MSVN is also a chapter of the Student Veterans of America, (SVA) a national organization advocating on your behalf. Membership in both MSVN and SVA is automatic for all past or present military members, and families, who are students at Metropolitan State University. Everyone is welcome to participate in events and activities.
