The Center for Faculty Development (previously known as the Center for Teaching and Learning) provides programs and activities designed to support its resident and community faculty in the achievement of Metropolitan State University's mission and vision.

The Center

  • Offers orientations designed to acculturate new faculty to the unique mission of Metropolitan State University and equip them with the knowledge, resources and tools they will need to provide academically excellent, innovative, student-centered instruction to students from diverse backgrounds;
  • Supports programs and provides resources which enable all faculty to excel in educating the university's students from diverse backgrounds to achieve their educational goals;
  • Sponsors programs which support faculty in all aspects of their work including scholarly or creative achievement or research, continuing preparation and study, contributions to student growth and development, and service to the university and community;
  • Provides opportunities for faculty to develop the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to the development of an anti-racist learning community.

The Center for Faculty Development offers seminars, confidential consultations, in-class observations and feedback, presentations on teaching and learning, workshops, brown bags, and conferences, as well as maintaining a resource collection available to Metropolitan State University faculty.


The Center for Faculty Development maintains workspaces on all campuses for resident and community faculty. These workspaces are appropriate for activities such as class preparation, phone calls, and meeting with students. Access can be requested from onsite security or by contacting the Center for Faculty Development.

    Community Faculty Room - 152 (access available from reception desk)

  • Normandale Community College - Cubicle in Partnership Suite P0820 (contact Diem Vo to reserve space and arrange for access)
