Online Law Enforcement Major Completion Program

  1. Who can be admitted to the online law enforcement major completion program?
    Any licensed Minnesota Peace Officer (active or inactive), with an associate degree from an accredited college or university is eligible.

  2. How long will it take to finish the program?
    The time it takes to complete the program varies per student. It depends on various factors, such as previous credits, individual commitment, course load, etc. Some students complete the program in four semesters while others need more time to finish.
    When you meet with your advisor, you will create a degree plan to determine the requirements necessary to complete the Law Enforcement Major Completion Program.

  4. May I send in both applications at once?
    Yes. However, you will not be accepted to the School of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice until you are admitted as a student of the university.

  5. What is a cohort?
    The dictionary defines cohort as "a united group of people sharing a common purpose."  We use the word cohort to describe the group of students that begin their major completion program at the same time. For instance, the peace officers starting their program in the Fall of 2017 are called "the 2017 cohort."

  6. How many students are admitted to a cohort?
    Cohorts are limited to 24 students.

  7. When do I attend the one-day on-site orientation?
    After you are admitted to a cohort, you will be notified of the date of the required one-day on-site orientation at the School of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. This orientation generally takes place approximately one month before the program begins.
