Metropolitan State University is aware of the impact a pandemic could have on our campuses. To prepare, a committee of university leaders has worked with local and county officials to create a coordinated operations and response plan.

The R U Ready Web site provides information and links about pandemics and gives you some practical, common sense measures to reduce your risk.

In the unlikely event of a pandemic warning for Metropolitan State University, the R U Ready site, as well as the main Metropolitan State home page, will be updated with the latest news and important information about university events and activities. At this time we recommend that you emphasize basic infection prevention measures. These measures include:

  • covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing
  • washing your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub
  • staying home when you are sick.

Metropolitan State will continue to monitor all pandemic developments. The University will review and update plans and processes to keep our community safe. If you have any suggestions or concerns, please contact Thomas Maida ( or the Office of Safety and Security at 651-793-1725.
