  Writing Center

About The Writing Center

Metropolitan State's Writing Center provides free writing support for the university's students, faculty, and staff. The Center offers a range of free services, including workshops on various aspects of writing in classrooms across the curriculum.

  • We can often work with you on a drop-in basis during our scheduled hours, but we encourage appointments.
  • One of our most popular services is the telephone tutorial. Clients call 651-793-1460 to make an appointment and either fax their project to 651-793-1463 or e-mail it to centerfolk@metrostate.edu
  • We also do a limited amount of on-line tutoring for Metropolitan State students.

Contacts

Call us at 651-793-1460 (TTY 651-772-7687) or email your questions to centerfolk@metrostate.edu.

We feel that students are best served when they are helped to develop skills to solve their writing problems.

As much as we want to help students with their projects, tutors are discouraged from simply proofreading or editing papers. Over 95% of our clients say that our consultations are helpful, that they learned a lot, and that they will return. One student said, "I've learned so much to improve my writing that I've increased my grades by a whole letter." The College of Arts and Sciences administers the Writing Center.
