Deb Gehrke, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), is responsible for recruitment and retention of a diverse employee base, oversight of employee benefits and compensation, and managing relationships with the seven collective bargaining units and plans represented on campus. She is also responsible for maintaining university human resources policies and ensuring Metropolitan State University’s adherence to them as well as other state and federal employment policies and laws.
Deb joined Metropolitan State University in 2014. Her previous leadership roles include Director of Human Resources and other human resources roles at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and Project Lead for the University of Wisconsin System-wide planning and implementation of PeopleSoft Talent Acquisition Management system. Prior to her work in higher education, Deb served over ten years in the private sector, including some Fortune 500 companies, in other human resources leadership roles.
Deb holds a bachelor’s degree in the area of Industrial Technology and Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She is a member of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
