Tom Cook works closely with Metropolitan State's President and Provost on executive functions, including policy, administration, and communication. He also maintains external relations and liaison with the Chancellor's office staff, state agencies, and regional thought leaders. In addition, he manages Metropolitan State's legislative initiatives and represents the President to legislators and Congressional staff, as well as to city, county, and community leaders.

Prior to joining Metropolitan State University in 2000, Tom served the University of Minnesota's College of Liberal Arts as Assistant to the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Associate to the Dean. He also served the University of Minnesota as Associate to the Executive Vice President and Provost.

Tom earned his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Washington, with a major in Classical Area Studies, and a Master's degree in History from Miami University of Ohio. He pursued graduate studies at Regent College in Vancouver, B.C., and was a Ph.D. candidate in Classical and Near Eastern Studies at the University of Minnesota. Tom is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
