    $10.20 starting wage, then $10.30 after 1,000 hours worked at this level

Major job duties

Customer service:


  • Welcome and treat visitors/guests with courtesy and respect.

  • Assist students, staff/faculty, and community members in accessing information about institutional and community resources.

  • Provide accurate, up-to-date information about events, activities, and services, and be aware of new happenings related to the Resource Center.

  • Demonstrate maturity, sensitivity, and confidentiality in situations requiring intervention by professional staff or Campus Safety.

  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of client information.


Clerical Duties:


  • Perform general clerical duties (this may include, but is not limited to: filing, answering phones, sorting mail, photocopying, mail pick-up and dissemination).

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to program initiatives and events.

  • Maintain the Resource Center Library (this may include, but is not limited to: Checking books and other items in and out. Helping patrons find books and other items. Preparing new books and other items to make them ready for library use. Shelving books and other library materials).




  • Assist with general up-keep and cleanliness of the Resource Center and report problems or maintenance issues in a timely fashion.

  • Assist with coordination and marketing of all Resource Center activities and events, including tabling events such as Fall Fest, Winter Fest, and New Student Orientations.

  • Attend all required student staff trainings, staff meetings, and Resource Center events.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff, including staff in other Student Success departments including Multicultural Affairs, American-Indian services, Military and Veteran Services, and Counseling.

Complete other duties and projects as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications and experience

The Student Office Assistant will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Women’s and LGBTQ+ Resource Center, including general clerical duties; assisting with marketing and logistics for events and programs; and maintaining the Resource Center library.

The Student Office Assistant will also staff the Resource Center during open hours. They will maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and well-kept space in addition to providing support for institutional and community resource referral related to gender and sexuality.

The Student Office Assistant must have an awareness of the cultures and needs of LGBTQ+ communities as well as knowledge of current women’s issues.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has and will maintain at least a 2.50 GPA

  • Is fluent in Engage, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, google applications, and social media.

  • Has a strong ability to work collaboratively within a diverse community and with a wide range of people and shares Metro’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

  • Is able to work effectively both as a member of a team and independently.

  • Has experience working or volunteering with women’s or LGBTQ+ organizations.

  • Is self-motivated, timely, communicative, and reliable.

  • Has no recent code of conduct violations.
