Student Communications Coordinator and Writer

  • Pay Level E
    Graduate student employee: $14.14 starting wage, then $14.64 after 1,000 hours worked at this level / Not tuition remission eligible

Major job duties

·         Research, interview, and write stories and curate visuals for e-newsletter, social media and print collateral

·         Create and manage release dates for all recurring publications

·         Manage projects to ensure that content is publication-ready and in by deadline

·         Support development and implementation of overall ICES communications strategy

Qualifications and experience

·         Strong writing skills; writing for diverse purposes and audiences

·         Visual content creation experience

·         Understanding of story fundamentals and newsworthiness

·         Project management and coordination experience with ability to work independently

·         Experience developing news stories, marketing materials, and/or publications

·         Working knowledge of editing software, e-newsletter services, social media and content management systems

·         Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinator and oversee story collection, production, and distribution process

·         Interest in the field of marketing, public relations, communications, storytelling, community and civic engagement, and/or higher education
