Major job duties

Work with Production Assistant, Theater Program coordinator and technical/design director to maintain and organize the Whitney Fine Arts Center Theater on the Minneapolis campus for rehearsal and performance needs.    

Assist  Technical/Design Director and Lighting Designer and work within cast or crew of season productions.     

Assist in the management of the theater season.

 

Qualifications and experience

Technical and administrative assistant needed to co-ordinate and assist in the production of academic and theater season activities for the Metro theater program.  Must be conscientious, flexible, adept at handling details, and receptive to taking and giving guidance.  Must work well under pressure and free several afternoons and some evenings. Knowledge of theater practice sufficient to assist a master stage carpenter or lighting designer—or a desire to learn and a love of the arts.

Skills:

Knowledge of spelling, grammar.  Skill in carpentry is a plus.  Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.  A desire to acquire basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in audio-visual and theater production is a plus. Outcomes would include the knowledge of principles and practices of theater production backstage management to provide lead-worker direction to other students in order to maintain stage facilities and equipment.
