This course focuses on foundational principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Indications, efficacy, therapeutic effects, and adverse effects of selected drugs will be examined, compared and contrasted. Utilizing critical thinking skills, the student will incorporate evidence-based, ethical, and holistic principles into pharmacotherapeutic decision making.

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of pharmacology including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacogenomics across the lifespan.
  2. Integrate the principles of pharmacotherapeutics related to treatment options.
  3. Review the process of drug development and approval by the FDA.
  4. Describe principles of pharmacotherapuetics related to lifespan, physiological status, and drug-drug interactions.
