After the Ballots: Navigating the 2024 Election Outcomes

We may have cast our ballots, but civic engagement is far from over. Join AASCU’s American Democracy Project (ADP) for a thoughtful conversation after the 2024 elections.

As the nation processes the results of the 2024 elections, our academic communities face the crucial task of understanding and responding to the outcomes. As educators and leaders within our academic communities, we must continue fostering dialogue, understanding, and action. This virtual discussion is designed for college and university faculty and staff to come together and reflect on the election’s implications for our campuses, students, and society.

Join us for an open and inclusive conversation where we will:

  • Debrief the Results: Engage in thoughtful analysis of the election outcomes, exploring the potential impacts on higher education and the diverse communities we serve.
  • Share Reactions and Concerns: Provide a supportive space for faculty and staff to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns about the election’s implications.
  • Reaffirm Our Commitment to Civic Engagement: Discuss how we can continue to encourage civic responsibility and active participation on our campuses, recognizing that the work of democracy extends beyond the ballot box.
  • Discuss Next Steps: Collaborate on strategies for fostering productive dialogue, supporting students, and strengthening campus climate in the post-election period.

Whether you’re looking for a space to process your thoughts or seeking ways to support your campus community, this discussion offers an opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the country. All perspectives are welcome as we navigate the path forward together. Register to participate (note: times on the registration website are in Eastern time).

About the American Democracy Project: Established in 2003 as a nonpartisan initiative of AASCU in partnership with The New York Times, the American Democracy Project (ADP) is a network of nearly 300 state colleges and universities collaborating to deepen the impact public higher education institutions have on preparing students who are empowered to be engaged and to lead in the future of our democracy. Civic education is particularly important for non-traditional students and those who do not come from privileged backgrounds, including women, students of color, and economically disempowered students. ADP serves this new American majority.
