According to the Red Cross, "The American Red Cross blood program started in 1940, under the leadership of Dr. Charles Drew. The Red Cross supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood supply and provides blood for patients in approximately 2,600 hospitals across the U.S."
Donor sign-up will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Oct. 16 and and from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Student Center. Sign-up will also be taken by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visiting https://www.redcrossblood.org/ and using the code: Metropolitan State.
