Spring 2022 Dine and Learn—
Bringing Your Whole Self to Work: Diverse Perspectives
We are encouraged to be our authentic selves both at work and at home. That means we bring our home personality/identity (most of it) to work.
We are told being our authentic selves allows us to share our true personalities/identities with our colleagues and helps us build stronger relationships. Stronger relationships will build trust and we’ll be happier at work and maybe, improve our chances for career success. To be more authentic, we hear suggestions to share our experiences, be honest, consider the context, and express ourselves with attire.
If only it was that straightforward.
Join us as a panel of Metro State alumni talk about their work experiences in terms of being yourself at work, being authentic and the related challenges and successes. Featured alumni include:
- Thulani Jwacu, Vuyo Consulting
- Suyapa Miranda, Prepare+Prosper
- Caroline Njogu, Mosaic
- Yer Winder, Minnesota Department of Revenue
Presented by the College of Management, Alumni Relations, and the Career Center.
