Call for student creative expressions

Metro State University’s fifth Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration is planned for Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

We invite students to submit their creative expressions that relate to our 2024 theme! The theme is Building CommUNITY: Rising Voices - A Call for Courageous Action to Advance Racial Equity. These expressions will be performed during our program on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Alternatively, students can submit a recording that will be played during the event.  

Here are more details:

  • Expressions can be of the student’s choosing, including poetry, spoken word, dance, music, essay, or something else. Students may make one submission. 
  • Up to five submissions will be selected by a small review team. 
  • The students who submissions are selected will:  
    • Receive a small gift of $100
    • Perform their expression at the program in January (or submit a recording to be played)
    • Be invited to the program in January as a special guest (along with family or loved ones)
    • Be specifically acknowledged during the program in January
