First Saturday Science: Cosmetic Chemistry

Cosmetic glass bottles

Calling all little scientists! This month's First Saturday Science is all about Cosmetic Chemistry. Have you ever wondered how health & beauty products are made? Come make your own lip balm and learn about the science behind lotions, bath fizzes and perfumes.

Kids of all ages are invited to explore science with fun laboratory experiments and hands-on activities during First Saturday Science! This month is all about cosmetic chemistry: the science of creating new cosmetics such as make-up, lotions, and shampoos.

Bring the little scientists in your life to learn how to make your very own lip balm, scents, bath fizzes, and more! Explore how chemistry really is the foundation (italic) of science. Facilitated by Chemistry Lab Specialist Beth Hinds.

First Saturday Science is free and open to the public, and ideal for youth ages 6 to 12. Co-sponsored by Metro State University's College of Sciences and the Institute for Community Engagement and Scholarship. To join the First Saturday Science monthly email list, contact MJ Mika at yf2457ag@go.minnstate.edu.

Learn more at home! A new video showing how to extract your very own fragrance will be available on the Institute's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/MetroStateICES.
