Graduation & Commencement Expo is the one-stop event that will allow graduates to purchase regalia (caps, gowns, tassels, invitations, class rings, etc.), take professional graduation photos, and connect to resources like Alumni Relations, Graduate Programs, Career Services, Veteran's Services and much more.

The expo allows students to complete a number of commencement-related tasks, including:

  • Purchase cap and gown. Purchases can be made with cash, credit card or checks made payable to Herff Jones. Note that the price of the cap and gown increases as commencement nears, because the supplier must rush the order for customers to receive it on time. Go to the Regalia Form Packet (PDF) packet for more information on ordering from Herff Jones.
  • Purchase generic Commencement invitations or order personalized invitations.
  • Grad Images is the vendor responsible for portraits and photos at Commencement. Register for your Graduation and Commencement Expo portraits online by filling out this form. For any other inquiries regarding Commencement photos, please contact Grad Images.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of these centralized services. Those unable to attend Graduation & Commencement Expo, will be able to order regalia through Herff-Jones by completing the Regalia Form Packet. Diploma covers and frames can be ordered through our supplier Framing Success.

If you have any questions about regalia, including exchanges and returns, please contact gradmidwest@gmail.com

Custom regalia (stoles or caps) can be purchased through Herff Jones or through different departments on campus. Regalia must be approved by Student Life & Leadership Development. To have your stoles or caps approved, please contact: student.life@metrostate.edu

Ordering regalia after Graduation & Commencement Expo

If you are unable to attend Graduation & Commencement Expo, you can order your regalia (cap/gown/tassel) directly through Herff Jones (herff.ly/metrostate). Herff Jones will have some regalia available for purchase at commencement as well.

Undergraduate caps/gowns/tassels are black, and you may borrow your regalia from another classmate or family member.

For more information about commencement, please go to the Graduation and Commencement page and review information in the Commencement D2L Workshop.

Cap and Gown Assistance/Borrowing/Rental

A limited quantity of caps and gowns are available for borrowing/rental from Student Life & Leadership Development. Please monitor the D2L Commencement Workshop for updates regarding the Cap and Gown Assistance Survey.

Important Information for Students Impacted by Spring Commencement Postponement to Aug. 15

If you have questions about regalia, including returns/exchanges, please contact gradmidwest@gmail.com and Herff Jones will help you with your questions/inquiries.

Due to the commencement postponement, we understand that some students may no longer be able to participate in the Aug. 15 ceremony.

You may return your unused cap and gown in the bag to the Herff Jones pop up shop on July 21 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., at Metropolitan State University's Student Center, second floor, held for your convenience (subject to possible change due to COVID 19 updates).

If you are unable to make the May 21 pop up shop return date, please mail your regalia back with the following form filled out to the address provided on this form
