Graduation & Commencement Expo is the one-stop event that will allow graduates to purchase regalia (caps, gowns, tassels, invitations, class rings, etc.), take professional graduation photos, and connect to resources like Alumni Relations, Graduate Programs, Career Services, Veteran's Services and much more.
The expo allows students to complete a number of Commencement-related tasks, including:
- Purchase cap and gown. Purchases can be made with cash, credit card or checks made payable to Herff Jones. Note that the price of the cap and gown increases as commencement nears, because the supplier must rush the order for customers to receive it on time. Go to the Regalia Form Packet (PDF) packet for more information on ordering from Herff Jones.
- Purchase generic Commencement invitations or order personalized invitations.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of these centralized services. Those unable to attend Graduation & Commencement Expo, will be able to order regalia through Herff-Jones by completing the Regalia Form Packet. Diploma covers and frames can be ordered through our supplier Framing Success.
Requesting to Participate in Commencement
- Students can request to participate in commencement by completing the Commencement Participation Survey on D2L Brightspace.
- Students can request to participate in Commencement until April 5, 2019.
Each student participating in Commencement will receive 7 tickets, which can be requested through the Commencement Participation Survey on D2L Brightspace.
Students who complete the Commencement Participation Survey before February 24, 2019 will receive their tickets via mail and should update their permanent addresses to ensure their tickets arrive to the appropriate residence.
Any returned tickets can be picked up at Gateway Student Services on the First Floor of Founders Hall on the St. Paul Campus.
Students who are granted approval to graduate until April 5, 2019 can submit their intention to walk in Spring 2019 Commencement. Graduating students who submit their intention to participate in Commencement between February 25, 2019 and April 5, 2019 will be notified by Student Life & Leadership Development when their Commencement tickets are ready to be picked up. Tickets can be picked up at Gateway Student Services on the First Floor of Founders Hall on the St. Paul Campus.
SLLD understands that some students need more than 7 tickets. If you are student looking for additional Commencement tickets or have extra Commencement tickets you'd like to offer to your peers, you can communicate this on the Commencement Ticket Discussion Board on D2L Brightspace beginning in Mid-March.
If students do not receive additional tickets, there will a livestream of the Commencement Ceremony online. There will be overflow seating outside the Minneapolis Convention Center and guests will be allowed into the auditorium to fill any remaining seats 15 minutes after the ceremony has begun.
